AVIP - San Remo WA Domain nameThe unique name of a computer connected to the Internet. & for instance - In the address webmaster@oz-net.com, oz-net is the domain name and the extension "com" (the domain) indicates that "oz-net" is a commercial domain in the international TLD. "WebMaster" is a mailbox @ [at] that domain. In addition to "com," other top level domains are "net" (Networks - like most ISP's), "org" (usually a non-profit organization), "edu" (educational institutions), "gov" (governments). And still other Top Level Domains are the Country Domains such as "au" (Australia), "nz" (New Zealand), "de" (Germany) and so on. Many of these use the same structure as above at the next Domain level - ie "net.au" (Network Domain in Australia), "com.au" (commercial venture Domain in Australia) and so on ..... |
